FULL BIOGRAPHY - A chance meeting in a Broadway orchestra pit between two musicians has led to a thirty-year songwriting and composing collaboration producing gold and platinum records, iconic TV themes and award-winning scores for films and commercials. Their first collaborative effort as a commercial scoring team began with the Apple Computer Macintosh launch in 1984 for Chiat/Day Advertising.  Almost immediately John Trivers and Elizabeth (Liz) Myers were helping to create corporate identities for clients worldwide, such as American Express, Hyundai, Michelob, Nissan, and Tropicana.  Their reputation became international as they traveled to Europe to write and record original scores for Aprilia, Ericsson, Opel and Nationwide Anglia.

From this auspicious beginning to the present, Trivers and Myers have created a body of work which continues to win awards. They have been part of the well-known United Airlines “It’s Time to Fly” animated campaign which began with the Oscar telecasts of 2005.  This debut commercial, entitled “Interview”, earned Trivers and Myers the Clio for Best Music Adaptation for their arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.  Trivers and Myers continue to be the composers and arrangers of choice for this lauded campaign, which has also been given the Effy award, to BDM Advertising in Minneapolis, advertising’s highest accolade for campaign effectiveness. Several of these commercials have been inducted into the Museum of Modern Art permanent collection.

Simultaneously, Trivers and Myers are composing for film and television.  Together with jazz pianist Alan Pasqua, they co-wrote the theme for the CBS Evening News, which ran for nineteen years while Dan Rather was the host.  In 1993, music composed by Trivers and Myers contributed to the Academy Award nomination of Steven Kessler’s film “Birch Street Gym” (Chanticleer Films) in the Short Film category.

The next film they scored was “Broke Even” directed by David Feldman, which won the award for Best Drama at the 2000 New York Independent Film Festival. In 2001, Trivers and Myers composed the score for the Paramount/Showtime feature film, “The Day Reagan was Shot” an historical drama written and a directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, who also penned the notorious ABC dramatization. The Path to 9-11″. The executive producer of “The Day Reagan Was Shot”, was Oliver Stone.

Trivers and Myers created the score for the controversial film “Hillary: The Movie”, screened by the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark 2009-2010 campaign finance case.  Justice Scalia found the music to be “compelling.”
